Under the Stars in Topanga
Not sure about y’all, but I’ve been running a mile a minute lately—and the stress is real. I’m not proud of it, but I know I’m not alone in feeling the constant pull of deadlines, responsibilities, and an endless to-do list.
As we began to say goodbye to the long summer days and welcomed a new academic year, I decided to plan a small getaway to the mountains of Topanga, CA. There, with minimal Wi-Fi and the full moon overhead, I was able to truly disconnect. In that quiet space, the moonlight illuminated areas of my life that were calling for reflection, healing, and intentional growth.
It was pure magic to sit under the night sky, surrounded by stars, listening to the layered sounds of nature.
Life can pull us in many directions, and I often feel overwhelmed too—unsure where to focus first. But rest and restoration don’t always require a big trip. Sometimes it’s five minutes of breathwork, a mindful walk outside, a sound bath, or—when possible—an intentional escape, like my treehouse stay in Topanga.
Stress may be unavoidable, but how we care for ourselves in the midst of it makes all the difference. Do what you can, in the ways you can, to feel ready for whatever comes next.
Be well,
Doctora Lorena
